Application Deadlines
Applications for admission and fellowship are accepted for fall quarter only. Future students may apply for admission any time after their junior year.
It is your responsibility to ensure your admission and/or fellowship application(s) meets the published deadline. Published deadlines are available on the online application or from the Graduate Studies Programs of Study list.
Applicants who wish to be considered for fellowship(s) must submit all application materials by the published fellowship deadline, unless your graduate program to which you are applying has a published Priority deadline, which takes precedence.
Fees
Application fee. An electronic application fee of $70 (U.S.) or $90 (international) is payable by everyone applying for admission. Visa, Mastercard and e-check are now available options for payment of the application fee.
Please note that the fee is not refundable under any circumstances, nor will an application be processed until the fee is received. Applicants with demonstrated financial need may apply for a waiver of the application fee. Funds for waivers are extremely limited and are available only to U.S. citizens and permanent residents of the U.S.
Applying for Readmission
Individuals who have enrolled at UC Davis as graduate students and are applying for readmission into the SAME program for the SAME degree may apply for readmission using the "Application for Readmission" form.
Multiple Applications
You may apply to up to five graduate programs at a time. You must file a complete application packet, including an application fee of $70 (U.S.) or $90 (international) for each program.
Transcripts
Order an official transcript from each college or university you have attended to be sent to you. UC Davis undergraduates must also order transcripts; we do NOT have access to your records. Allow one month for delivery of transcripts.
An official transcript is required from each undergraduate institution you attended; a summary of work transferred from another institution is not acceptable. Exception: If you have attended the University of California as an undergraduate for at least two years, you need not submit a transcript for prior lower division coursework taken elsewhere, unless your graduate program requires it.
Transcripts are required for any post-Baccalaureate work taken, including summer sessions, lower division, and graduate work.
All transcripts become the property of The University of California, Davis and cannot be borrowed, returned to applicants, or sent to another institution or campus. New students should have a complete set of transcripts in their possession when meeting with their graduate advisers prior to enrollment.
You must send your transcripts by mail to the graduate major program office. Your electronic application will not be considered complete until your transcripts and application fee have been received.
Your Completed Application
Each program to which you apply must receive a complete application, including the application fee of $70 (U.S.) or $90 (international). A complete application consists of an online application, all official transcripts, (if required), application fee of $70 (U.S.) or $90 (international), and any supplement materials required such as TOEFL or IELTS scores, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, portfolios, audition tapes, or examples of written work. If the graduate program requires a writing sample, CV or résumé, you must upload the document(s) to the online application.
Your completed application and supplemental materials will be evaluated by your graduate program. The Graduate Admissions Advisory Committee in the graduate program will submit its recommendations to the dean; final admission decisions rest with the dean of Graduate Studies. This approval procedure applies to all applicants including those applying to UC Davis from another UC campus.
Notification of Decision
Official notification of admission or denial will be sent electronically by Graduate Admissions. The processing time takes an average of 12 weeks.
Financial Support
Financial support for graduate study at UC Davis is available in several forms: fellowships and graduate scholarships, extramural funding from external agencies, and financial aid.
If you are interested in applying for campus based fellowships, you will need to submit your application by January 15. To apply for a fellowship, go to our online fellowship application system (the system will be available to start your application beginning August 31, 2007).
NOTE:
The Fellowship Application, the Letter
of Recommendation Form with three letters of recommendation, and the Waiver
of Confidentiality (if you choose to waive access) make up the fellowship applications package.
